I’m Leona Nichole Black, a philosopher, artist and spiritualist from South London, UK. I’m the author of Tarot Therapy, a fresh take on working with tarot as a healing tool in an increasingly empty and spiritually disconnected culture. Before committing to a life as a spiritualist, I worked as an academic specialising in Black Diaspora Studies, History and Culture. I’m a 1st Class Literature graduate. I have a masters degree in ”Race and Resistance Movements” and three years of PhD research into contemporary Black popular culture. You’ll see those influences still present in the way I create today, and the communities and belief systems I prioritise.

I have studied, applied myself and practiced my spiritualisms over the past seven years. Establishing a reputation in the Black British space at first, and then internationally, as a wise, trustworthy, teacher and healer. My dedicated self-initiation into shamanism took me all over the world. Living in Brazil, Portugal, South Africa, Mexico and the United States, as epicentres of my learning about gods and spirits in nature. Gaining an intimate experience of the spirit energy in forests and jungles, in rivers or seas, in Mountains and thunder storms and in scorching heat.

Crafted from my years of experience, my public spiritual service is mixed method: involving tarot, astrology, plant medicines, ancestors, animal guides, ritual devotion, mediumship for deities and spirits, and much more. I am the healer other healers come to.

In many traditions someone with my gifts would be sought out at personal cost or great effort. It would require a journey into the forest or up into the mountains. Now that technology can put me directly in your living room at the click of a button, that effort and distance is measured by how far, and how deeply you are willing to meet yourself. If on any level you think of this work as purchasing answers, as transactional rather than experiential, then I am not the right guide for you.

I am a warrior. But not the shield and sword toting type. Spiritually, I am a mother who fights for her children and I give my whole body to that act. In that respect, I am also a practicing shaman. My focus and experience thus far has been spiritual conditions affecting your mental state and intuition, as well as blockages of emotional energy in the body. I am experienced with plant medicines and multiple dimensions of consciousness.

To come to me for spiritual care is to engage in the nature of change itself. You need to be ready to change. To be respectful of the fact that divination is a change process. When I become a mouthpiece for the spirits you are requesting help from, the act of them seeing you and speaking to you is something that will leave you altered.

You cannot purchase the gods or ancestors, neither mine nor yours. When you pay me for this work it is out of respect. When you sit in front of me (most often over video call), you are experiencing my strong connection with the divine cultivated in my everyday life. It doesn’t start or stop at the beginning or end of a reading. Your payment is an offering at the altar, and you are coming to have an experience with our spirits and god(s).

Though I take deep pleasure in this work and find it very fulfilling, it is not a hobby or a job. To see Leona Nichole Black is to visit with a goddess. This is my whole existence. It is not what I do, but who I am.
